Custom made Pop waistcoats by Welsh & Jefferies

At Welsh & Jefferies, Eton, we have had the honour of creating unique and personalised waistcoats for the Pop boys at Eton College. As part of the Pop society, the boys are required to have two waistcoats of their own favourite designs, which are custom-made to show that they are part of the exclusive Pop group.

The waistcoat is an integral part of the Pop boy's uniform, and it is complemented by checked trousers, braided tailcoats with silver buttons, and custom-made waistcoats. The Pop boys are the only students at Eton College who are allowed to wear these unique and distinguished garments.

Our tailor, Tufy, has handmade each waistcoat for the Pop boys. The boys have been allowed to choose absolutely any design for their waistcoat, and we have certainly had some crazy ones! We've made football shirts into waistcoats, rugby waistcoats, character waistcoats, family tartans, Disney and Marvel designs, and even music waistcoats with many rappers.

One of Tufy's favourite waistcoats was a pink panther design. The boy had a pink panther on the front part of his waistcoat, and the waistcoat clip at the back was made into the pink panther's tail, which was extra long to be seen dropping out below his tailcoat. The result was very effective and eye-catching.

The boys are allowed to go wild with their designs, and we've even had a customer bring in his mother's Hermes scarfs, which were then made into his waistcoat. Another boy cleverly incorporated his very famous product last name into his waistcoat design and had the waistcoat made up of a picture of the product.

Tufy's favourite waistcoat designs are, of course, all the Arsenal designs. We are honoured to be able to make these wonderful waistcoats, and each waistcoat is unique and one of a kind. The Pop system is an integral part of the Eton College culture and traditions, and our custom-made waistcoats play a significant role in this. The waistcoat is not just a piece of clothing but a symbol of tradition, honour, and respect.
